The 61-meter-high Fire Tower at Main Square is the symbol of the city,offers a wonderful panoramic view and houses exhibitions about the history of the town.The Benedictine Church also know as „Goat Church”,with its Gothic vault and baroque interior dominates Main Square. The General's House was the residence of the 17th-century mayors and military commanders.Fabricius House,one of the town's most valuable monuments,is 300 years older.The street and sqare system surrounding the downtown is very inviting.Maria Column is beautiful monument in the Castle District and Zettl-Langer collection has a special atmosphere.One of the town's most valuable monuments is the Holy Spirit Church wich is a Gothic masterpiece from the turn of 15th century.The 17th century Eszterházy Palace holds The Museum of Forestry,Surveying and the Timber Industry. The Mediaeval Chapter Hall a monument of matchless value from the 13th century,its rich ornamentation,sculptures and paintings unique in Hungary.Exhibitions of urban history,ethnography and fine art can be found at the Liszt Ferenc Museum. |
