Description: Szeged is often called the town of sunshine because the sun shines 2100 hours a year.After the great flood of the Tisza river in 1879,a well-designed new town was built with international help.Among the town's world-famous products are the Salami and Szeged Paprika.The town's traditionally vibrant intellectuel atmosphere gave birth to famous schools and writers,poets and scientists:vitamin C was discovered in Szeged paprika by Nobel Prize-winning Dr. Albert Szent-Györgyi.In the heart of the city can be found the Dom Square and a row of famous buildings such as Bishop's Palace,Catholic boarding house as well as the Bishop's Cathedral built by survivors of the great flood.The monuments of Szeged's history were collected in the Castle Museum Stone Collection.
